Extra-curricular
Life at Arnewood doesn't stop when the bell goes. We offer a wide and varied programme of extra-curricular activities - from sport and performing arts to music, creative arts and clubs for every interest - because we believe that what students do outside the classroom is just as important as what happens inside it.
Coordinated by a dedicated member of staff and running across all year groups and terms, our extra-curricular programme is designed to inspire, challenge and extend learning beyond the classroom. Whether you want to compete, create, lead or simply try something new, there’s something here for you. Students also have opportunities to represent the school locally, regionally and nationally through a range of academic, sporting and creative activities.
The annual school production
Each year, our school production is one of the highlights of the Arnewood calendar - and something we're genuinely proud of. Recent productions have included Frozen and Shrek: The Musical, with large numbers of students involved across performing, directing, backstage, costumes, lighting and sound. These are full-scale, ambitious productions that showcase the extraordinary talent in our school and bring students, staff and families together in the most joyful way.

Music
Music thrives at Arnewood. Our Orchestra and Choir both perform throughout the year at school events and beyond, and there are regular opportunities for students to develop their musical talents in and out of the classroom.
Sport
Sport is a big part of life at Arnewood. We field teams in football, netball and athletics, competing at local and regional level throughout the year. Whether you're a competitive player or just want to get active, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved.
Academic enrichment
Students can also take part in a range of nationally recognised academic competitions and enrichment opportunities, including the IET Faraday Challenge, the British Physics Olympiad and the UK Maths Challenge. These activities encourage curiosity, teamwork and problem-solving, while allowing students to explore subjects beyond the curriculum and compete against students from across the country.
Duke of Edinburgh's Award
We are a licenced centre for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, offering Bronze, Silver and Gold. DofE is one of the most rewarding things a young person can do - developing skills, volunteering, physical activity and an expedition, all building towards a recognised achievement that lasts a lifetime. Speak to the school office for details on how to get involved.
Clubs and activities
We run a broad range of clubs to suit every interest. Current clubs cater for interests like Chess Club and Crochet Club, to Dungeons & Dragons and Chefs Club - and the list keeps growing. If there's something you'd like to see that isn't on offer yet, please talk to a member of staff.
