Staff briefing was an interesting and colourful affair this morning at The Arnewood School. Teachers and staff aimed to celebrate a belated World Book Day 2023 and bring a little laughter to students by dressing as an array of literature’s favourite or most infamous book characters.

Headteacher, Mr Anderson became Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective Sherlock Holmes complete with pipe, deer-stalker cap and inverness cape. The science department wowed as the Queen of Hearts and her pack of cards from Lewis Carol’s, Alice in Wonderland. The Cheshire Cat, Mad Hatter and Alice completed the cast. Michael Bond’s, Paddington Bear was at the meeting, Martin Hanford’s Where’s Wally was sighted,  Jeff Kinney’s, Greg Heffley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid made an appearance, and Dodie Smith’s, Cruella Deville had a small entourage of Dalmatian puppies that had not yet been made into a coat.
