Strong relationships are at the heart of all that we do and, as a result, I believe that The Arnewood School is a wonderful place to grow and learn. We take great pride in fostering a calm, supportive, and inclusive environment where strong, positive relationships among students, staff, and parents are nurtured and valued.
At Arnewood your child will be seen and celebrated and not just a face in the crowd. The teaching and learning experience in the classroom is built on a real understanding of who your child is, and what they need to succeed. We are forward thinking and progressive in relation to educational approaches; giving our caring, passionate staff the tools they need to deliver high quality learning experiences every lesson, every day.
Our core values are Ambition, Success, Together. Continue reading to see exactly what each of these pillars means to us. Ultimately, we are dedicated to offering the best possible education. We strive to set all members of our community on their path to happy and successful futures.
We are very proud of our school, our students and the community that we serve. It is an exciting time for Arnewood and I would welcome you to become part of it.
Arnewood has played a central role in our local community for over 50 years. My ambition is to provide that central role for generations to come. Our close partnership with Eaglewood School enables us to offer a truly inclusive education to all young people in our catchment area. I am extremely proud that Arnewood students are currently pursuing their dreams across the UK and the world, as well as here in the New Forest.
Our alumni have graced the corridors at the most prestigious universities, worked in high level positions in government, become professional referees, embarked on ground breaking gene therapy research, trodden the boards in London’s West End, worked for charities, started their own businesses locally and much more. It remains at the heart of The Arnewood Way to guide, celebrate and support ambition in any direction that contributes positively to society.
Students at Arnewood have an amazing array of enrichment opportunities, which allows them to develop a wide range of skills for use throughout their lives. A full and varied calendar of enrichment trips is organised including annual residential visits to sites around the UK, a biannual trip to New York and many others.
Our Performing Arts department is a strength of the school and an area of which the students and staff are extremely proud. We stage our own production each year and encourage all year groups to be involved. A testament to this is our recent successful bid to become the Southeast representatives to perform the West End version of ‘Frozen’. In addition to this, the year is peppered with theatre trips and visiting artists sharing their expertise.
The relationship between teachers and support staff, students, parents and carers is at the heart of everything we do. As an inclusive school, we strive to nurture a togetherness within our community. It is in this environment, celebrating difference and diversity, that both ambition and success can thrive. We have high expectations for students during their time at Arnewood, but this is met with high levels of support where needed. Every child needs to feel welcomed, valued and appropriately challenged and, as a relational school, every member of our staff is committed to forging and developing lasting relationships with both students and their parents.
