Frenquently Asked Questions

What, and how many subjects can I take?

The sixth form provides you with a varied curriculum that caters for all abilities. We encourage students in year 12 to start with 4 A levels to increase flexibility in their programme of study. Students have the opportunity to mix A Levels with BTEC or Technical qualifications or they can take these vocational qualifications as a stand-alone qualification. If students preferred method of learning is more hands on then the sixth form offer a small range of vocational qualifications leading directly into that career path.

What will my timetable look like?

Students in year 12 will have 4 lessons of their chosen subject per week, and students in year 13 will have 4 lessons of their chosen subject per week, plus an independent study session to accompany that subject. Each lesson is 1 hour in duration and there are 5 lessons a day.

What can I do during my independent study periods?

During the day, there will be independent study time on your timetable. This is an opportunity to complete: Work Experience to enhance your CV Complete homework Online courses – Future learn Support lower school lessons with mentoring/buddy reading/numeracy work

Can I park on site?

Parking on site is very limited and for this reason we ask for no cars to be parked on site. If you intend to drive to school, please be considerate of where you park and bear the local residents in mind when choosing a parking spot for your car.

Will my parents be informed of my progress?

Yes. Although we expect you to take more responsibility for yourself and for your learning once you are in the sixth form, your parents will be sent regular progress and attendance updates through the academic year. If we believe that there might be a problem with your progress or your attendance then your tutor will work with you to help you to get back on track.

Is there any financial support in Sixth Form?

Yes. Please see the Finance page for more information.
