Investing In Arnewood

The Arnewood School in New Milton is undergoing more than £1m’s worth of improvements in the latest phase of its development. The work will see upgrades to two music rooms, practice rooms and two drama suites.

Builders Greendale Construction are updating both the inside and exterior of the building and work is expected to be completed by March next year.

It is the latest phase of improvements which have also seen the upgrade of the three storey Elizabeth Cook Building, previously the Scola building. In addition to the renovation of the interior learning spaces, the exterior of the school buildings will now be in harmony, making for a more attractive environment.

The ROSLA (Rising of School Leaving Age) Building was built 50 years ago. Alumni who attended the school many years ago will remember this building as where automotive engineering was taught. At one time it also housed the canteen.

The new funding was secured by an application to the Condition Improvement Fund. The Arnewood School continues to be a highly successful school with a growing Sixth Form and has some of the best facilities in the area.

Nigel Pressnell, headteacher, said “This is the latest phase of our multi-million pound building improvement strategy and will complement work completed last year on our three story maths, science and vocational teaching accommodation. Students are fortunate to have some of the best facilities locally and this latest phase will give them access to state-of-the-art expressive arts spaces. This will benefit all key stages including the many students who remain at Arnewood Sixth Form to follow creative qualifications.”
