Centre Assessed Grades

In 2021 the Government declared that examinations would be cancelled, and students would be awarded grades according to the work they have completed in school.

Last year, teachers were asked to submit Centre Assessed Grades (CAGs) that reflected the grade they believed the student was working at. This year, the terms CAG and TAG (Teacher Assessed Grades) have both been used by the Government and in Newspapers. They are different names for the same thing. However, we will use the term CAG as we feel it reflects the process better – the grade we submit for your child is not the grade a teacher has given, but the grade created from a range of evidence generated at the school.
